SLANS Professional Development Day 2026

Professional Development Opportunities

Every member of the SLANS board is a practicing teacher and student leadership advisor in Nova Scotia. We understand the demands of our profession and the struggle to secure funding for substitute coverage for special events. As such, we have intentionally designed our professional development session to meet the specific needs of student leadership advisors and to align with RCE goals and mandates. The information below is intended to both give you a better sense of the opportunities that will be available to you and support you in applying for funding to your school administration, RCE, and/or union.

Organization Information: The Student Leadership Association of Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit organization registered in the province of Nova Scotia which actively promotes the concept of student leadership in secondary schools across the province. The organization encourages the sharing and exchanging of ideas pertaining to student leadership, activities, and education throughout schools in Nova Scotia. To meet this goal, the organization has been offering certified annual professional development opportunities to student leadership advisors since 2018.
